The International Summer Language School (ISLS) is organised by the International Office, University of West Bohemia, Pilsen, Czech Republic. More information regarding the International office can be found on the following web site: http://international.zcu.cz/

International Summer Language School offers various language courses at beginner / intermediate / advanced levels. In 2016 you can choose from the following            7 languages: 

                       CZECH FOR FOREIGNERS   *   ENGLISH   *   FRENCH   *   GERMAN    
                  ITALIAN   *   RUSSIAN   *   SPANISH

The International Summer Language School was held for several years under the auspices of the President of the Czech Commission for UNESCO, Doc. MUDr. Jaroslava Moserová, DrSc. The International Summer Language School is also holder of the European Language LABEL Award for Innovation in Language Teaching.

The International Summer Language School first took place in 1990 with 130 students and lecturers. In eighteen years the number has increased to 877 participants (students and lecturers) from all parts of the Czech Republic and abroad. Last year 171 participants arrived from countries as:  Australia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, India, Italy, Latvia, Libya, Lithuania, Macedonia, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Republic of South Africa, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the U.S.A., Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. Every year a great number of foreigners living in the Czech Republic come and participate in the International Summer Language School to improve their level of the Czech language. 

One of the most loyal participants to the International Summer Language School is 
Charles Hall, PhD., dr. h. c. from the University of Memphis, Tennessee, the USA, who will be coming this year as a lecturer and a coordinator of a group of American students for the twenty-fourth time. In November 2007 he was awarded the honorary title dr. h. c. (doctor honoris causa) from the University of West Bohemia.
